The University of Tripoli Professors Union was formed pursuant to Law No. 29 of 1977 establishing a Professors Union. The syndicate works to achieve the following objectives:

 

• Working to raise the level of university and higher education.
• Raising the standards of the university and higher education teaching profession and preserving the dignity of the profession.
• Encouraging scientific writing and research that serves the nation and solves its social, economic, and scientific problems.
• Cooperating with academic bodies and various syndicates at the local, national, and international levels.
• Protecting the interests of its members, protecting their rights, and working to improve their cultural, material, and social conditions.
