The effectiveness of schools in promoting preventive awareness of drug dangers among students: A field study in secondary schools in the Al-Rayyanah Municipality from the teachers' perspective
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of schools in promoting preventive awareness of the dangers of drug use among students, and the role of teachers, psychologists, and social workers in this promotion. The study population consisted of 169 teachers in public secondary schools in the Al-Rayaynah municipality. A random sample of 34 teachers was selected. The descriptive-analytical method was used, as it was suitable for this study. A questionnaire was used to collect data, and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for analysis, employing Cronbach's alpha, percentages, means, standard deviations, t-tests, and one-way ANOVA. The study reached the following key findings:
The effectiveness of schools in promoting preventive awareness of the dangers of drugs among secondary school students, according to the study sample, was below average. Similarly, the role of teachers, psychologists, and social workers in drug prevention, as well as the provision of sports and cultural activities and student volunteer work by the school administration, were above average. However, the school administration's use of control policies to reduce drug use was above average. No statistically significant differences were found. Statistics attributed to the study variables (gender, age, educational qualification, years of experience).
