Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent of use of modern teaching methods in physical education at the university level, and to analyze the impact of these methods on the development of students' life skills (such as cooperation, thinking, responsibility, and leadership). The study adopted the descriptive survey method because it provides the researcher with data and information that greatly contributes to describing the existing situation. The study population consisted of newly enrolled students at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in Tripoli. A random sample was chosen as a sampling method to select the study sample, and its number reached (38) male and female students, representing (25.21%) of the total students of the college. A questionnaire was applied that included, in addition to demographic information about the study sample, a scale consisting of three axes. The most important results showed that the level of overall motivation resulting from the teacher's use of modern methods in teaching physical education was high (78%), which indicates its effectiveness in motivating students during the lesson. It was found that the most influential elements of motivation were those related to the diversity of activities, the presence of group challenges, and modern teaching methods such as videos and pictures. Students also showed a clear love for the subject of physical education when the modern methods were applied. The overall effect reached 78%, indicating that these methods contribute to enhancing the psychological and cognitive connection to the subject. The results also showed that the students' desire to repeat participation in physical education activities increased by 74% when using modern methods, especially in the segments that included group work and repeating enjoyable exercises. No statistically significant differences appeared between students according to the age variable in all aspects of the study, which indicates that the effect of modern methods is comprehensive and suitable for all age groups. There were no statistically significant differences between males and females, which indicates that modern methods are effective regardless of the student's gender, and achieve similar results for both parties.
