Abstract

Given Libya's geostrategic location as a major transit hub for Europe, illegal migration has emerged as one of the most significant issues facing the country in recent years. Since 2011, this trend has worsened as a result of political unrest, institutional failure, and insecurity. The effects of illegal migration have significantly impacted population distribution, labor market conditions, social and economic security, and demographics, leading to increased crime and unemployment rates, and population growth in areas unprepared for either. Therefore, this study seeks to explore the relationship between illegal migration and demographic shifts in Libya, by examining the causes of illegal migration to Libya and its impact on demographic shifts in Libya.
