Comparative Empirical Analysis of The Performance and Efficiency of Irada 7 and Irada 2 Tugboat Engines at Tripoli Seaport.

Speed and fuel consumption rate are critical parameters influencing the operational efficiency of marine locomotives, particularly under varying sailing conditions. This study presents a comparative performance analysis of two marine locomotives—Iradah 7 and Baher 3—operating at the Tripoli Seaport. Performance data were collected across multiple sailing stages, with target speeds ranging from 6 to 12 knots over scheduled time intervals. Microsoft Excel was used for data processing and graphical representation, enabling the construction of performance curves illustrating the relationship between speed and fuel consumption rate.
Results show that Iradah 7 consumed approximately 20.8 liters per hour less fuel than Baher 3 at a cruising speed of 8 knots, indicating superior fuel efficiency at moderate speeds. Conversely, Baher 3 demonstrated stronger dynamic acceleration and power output at speeds above 10 knots. Thermal load distribution analysis revealed greater fluctuations in Baher 3, impacting its operational stability and cooling system performance. The study recommends targeted improvements to the fuel injection and cooling systems of Baher 3 to enhance overall efficiency. Additionally, it underscores the value of digital analysis tools in supporting technical decision-making and promoting sustainable practices in marine operations.
