Abstract

Integration of sustainable interior design in contemporary buildings is an important corner of recently architectural design worldwide. Sustainable interior design can be manifested through the physiological and emotional aspects of people. This paper provided an overview of interior design and its history; it was found that interior design appeared since ancient times in many civilizations as ancient Egyptian civilization, Roman and Greek civilization, then the Middle Ages through the Renaissance from classicism to modernity until it reached our present era. In present paper, sustainable interior design was mentioned, and its role is to reduce the environmental impact by preserving environmental factors in spaces. The research discussed colors, the relationship of color to space, and how colors can change the proportions of space for the user. The research also provided excerpts on the manufacture of natural dyes from renewable resources such as plants and algae without compromising the sovereignty of the environment
